Mum's charity weight loss plan
A MUM-of-two plans to lose more than five stone while raising hundreds of pounds for a charity close to her heart.
Weighing in at 15 stone and 4lbs, Diane Thompson, of Bowness Way, Gunthorpe, Peterborough, decided it was time for a change and set herself the target of losing five-and-a-half stone by May next year.
The 49-year-old has got herself a personal trainer and joined the Fitness First gym, in Westfield Road, in a bid to bring her weight down.
Ms Thompson, who also has two grandchildren, said: "I decided there was no hurry so I have given myself plenty of time to do it.
"If just lose a pound a week I will reach my target.
"I have chosen to raise money for the British Heart Foundation because both my parents suffered from heart problems and I also have high blood pressure.
"My partner likes me the way I am but this is something I need to do for myself."
Ms Thompson, who has shown her determination and commitment by giving up smoking in November last year, has already raised about £400 from friends, relatives and family but hopes to increase funds with the help of the public.
