Three LA Weight Loss Centers shutting down
Three Bay area LA Weight Loss Centers are shutting down with little notice, and customers who frequent them might be even more upset about what is occurring to their files.
"I ignored the signs not thinking it was anything, and they said, 'Did you read the sign, we are closing March 1st,'" said Adrienne Galluppo, a current LA Weight Loss client.
However, several clients said that's not the worst part of the situation.
Client files were dumped in the trash behind the Terrace Oaks Plaza location in Temple Terrace.
Credit card numbers, social security numbers, full names, and medical histories were found in the trash container.
One former client, who wished to remain anonymous, was shocked to learn what happened to the files.
"My Social Security number, my home address, my home number, which is unlisted, is in the file. So yes, I'm very concerned," she said.
More perplexing is that this client never stepped foot inside the Temple Terrace location. Her file is 12 years old.
"I was actually a patient at the Dale Mabry north LA location, in that area," she said.
The Florida Attorney General's Office said businesses have to dispose of personal information in a way it won't legally breach customer information.
Temple Terrace Police later dug through the evidence.
There are many LA Weight Loss locations in the Bay area. The ones in Clearwater, south Tampa, St. Petersburg, Spring Hill and Lakeland remain open. In addition to the Temple Terrace location, others shutting down are in Sarasota and Brandon.
