Usually when you hear about a business closing it's the workers who are outraged. But, this time Nine On Your Side is hearing from its clients. LA Weight Loss Center in New Bern is shutting down. So Nine On Your side wants to know what that means for those who have paid hundreds, sometimes thousands of dollars, all up front to lose weight?

The center that's at the middle of the controversy is this one in New Bern on South Glenburnie Road. We went there first to get answers, but no one was there.

The center's Operations Manager works in Jacksonville. I ran into Tamara Todd, as she was walking out the door.

Reporter: "They're worried what's going to happen when they go for their next appointment and the door is going to be locked, that's what they're concerned about, they feel like no one's been telling them anything." Todd says, "Well there's really nothing to say yet, because we don't really know anything."

Todd says there a lot of details left to work out. But says the New Bern center is merging with others because it's not making money.

Reporter: "Todd says the New Bern clients will be welcomed here at the la weight loss center in Jacksonville where their contracts will be honored."

Todd says, "They'll be given their money back, they'll be given their food back, if they have anything coming to them, they'll get it, if they don't want to go to a location that's been provided for them, we have online programs that they can utilize."

While Todd is confident her L.A. Weight Loss Clients will be taken care of we found others who say they weren't. On Consumeraffairs.com you'll see dozens of complaints from people across the country, who claim their local LA Weight Loss Centers took their money, skipped town and left them with no options.

But Todd says that won't happen to her customers. She says she expects clients to get notices in the mail from the corporate office within two to three weeks. We'll keep an eye on it to make sure the company honors the clients' contracts. By the way Todd says current clients can use the Goldsboro center if they want.
